Civilization and education are complimentary attainments and one stem’s from the other. Education, as a system, protects the Society and its civilization. The meaning and scope of education has widened to include not only the intellect, but also the emotional and social development of the student, his physical and mental health, his social adjustment and other important aspects of life, in a word – the all-round development of his personality. The student has to develop into a useful member of the community with a healthy mind and body to successfully face the challenges in the present day world of high competition. The teacher’s role would be to integrate knowledge and life, to sharpen thought and perception and to develop character and personality. It is in this context that the institution, which is responsible for the student’s learning and training, plays a pivotal role.
